ABOUT THE AUTHOR

I’m Max Fonji, founder and financial education writer behind The Rich Guy Math.

I created The Rich Guy Math because personal finance is often explained in a way that makes ordinary money decisions sound more complicated than they need to be.

A definition alone is not always enough. Knowing what compound interest means is different from understanding what happens when you change the interest rate, contribution amount, or time period. Knowing your credit-card APR is different from understanding what carrying a balance can actually cost.

That is the gap I want The Rich Guy Math to help close.

What I Do at The Rich Guy Math

I oversee the site’s financial education content, editorial direction, calculators, research standards, publishing process, content updates, and overall reader experience.

My work focuses primarily on:

  • credit and credit reports
  • debt and borrowing
  • budgeting and saving
  • banking
  • investing fundamentals
  • retirement planning
  • financial calculations
  • everyday money decisions

The goal is not to tell readers what they must do with their money. The goal is to explain how the numbers, rules, risks, and trade-offs work so readers can make more informed decisions.

My Approach to Financial Education

The Rich Guy Math is built around a simple idea:

Understand the numbers before making the decision.

When a financial topic involves mathematics, I try to show the assumptions behind the calculation rather than simply presenting a result.

When a topic depends on laws, regulations, government programs, tax rules, credit-scoring information, or other factual claims, I look for authoritative sources that can support the explanation.

Depending on the subject, those sources may include organizations such as:

  • Consumer Financial Protection Bureau
  • U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission and Investor.gov
  • Internal Revenue Service
  • Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation
  • Federal Reserve
  • FINRA
  • Bureau of Labor Statistics
  • Other appropriate government agencies and primary sources

The use of a source does not mean that the organization sponsors, approves, or endorses The Rich Guy Math.

What I Don’t Claim

I do not present The Rich Guy Math as a substitute for individualized professional advice.

The site provides general financial education. It does not create a financial adviser-client, attorney-client, accountant-client, lender-borrower, or other professional relationship.

A reader dealing with a situation that requires individualized financial, investment, tax, legal, credit, or lending advice may need to consult an appropriately qualified professional.

How AI Is Used

The Rich Guy Math may use AI-assisted and other software tools during parts of the publishing process, including research organization, brainstorming, outlining, drafting assistance, editing, formatting, and content production.

AI-generated information is not treated as automatically accurate.

Important financial claims, calculations, definitions, sources, and limitations are reviewed before publication. Final editorial responsibility remains with The Rich Guy Math.

Corrections

Financial information changes, and mistakes can happen.

If you find an error, outdated statement, broken source, or calculation that does not look correct, I want to know about it.
